Knitting pattern for a netted shawl

Netted Shawl.

Make a foundation of 108 stitches, and net on the narrow mesh 25 rows with white, 25 with the colour for the centre alternately, till you have 5 stripes of white and 4 of coloured; this completes the centre.

For the border, on the second-sized mesh:—Net entirely with double wool throughout, and 2 stitches made in every corner stitch in the wide rows, in addition to the pattern.

First row:—With white, on a mesh 23 millimeters wide, plain.

Second row:—Take 2 stitches together and net them as one on the same mesh as the row before, also with white, and the 2 next rows.

Third row:—Net 2 stitches in every loop.

Fourth row:—Plain, on the narrow mesh.

Repeat these 4 rows till you have net all the shades, beginning with the lightest and ending with the darkest; 4 rows of each.

For the fringe, on the wide mesh, with double wool, taking the 2 shades marked for the fringe.
